Our Client is a long-term developer, investor and operator of public sector infrastructure assets and renewable energy facilities in the UK and internationally.

The Asset Management Division of the investments business is responsible for managing all aspects of delivery over a whole project life from pre-construction through and including the delivery phases and where relevant, divestment. The Renewable Energy (RE) business is focused on developing and investing in a portfolio of RE assets in the UK and Europe, currently consisting of onshore wind and solar PV with a further pipeline of projects located in Ireland, France, Finland, Norway, Germany and Poland.

Key Attributes
Good technical knowledge of Wind Turbine set up, operating and performance improvement is essential for this role. In addition, mechanical and electrical experience in the context of renewable energy assets, in construction or operation would be beneficial.
Strong track record. This is a performance led post, requiring the post holder to manage a team of technical contract managers and the day to day operation of the operational renewable investments (Wind and Solar).
Proven ability to optimise the operational performance, and returns to shareholders, of renewable energy assets.
Excellent negotiation skills and the ability to manage the operational supply chain and optimise operational performance. Ability to identify operational risks and implement effective risk mitigation plans.
Ability to speak one of the following languages in addition to English – French, German, Swedish, Polish, or Finnish would be beneficial.

Job Purpose
Develop and implement an asset management strategy for the Company portfolio that is focussed on delievering performance above contracted levels. Deliver value creation across the Company portfolio working with internal and external stakeholders to improve investors returns through improvements in operational performance.
Work closely with the Senior Finance Manager Renewables to optimise operational financial models. Focus on optimising operational performance and stakeholder management and optimisation of turbine performance post commissioning through strong relationships with turbine manufacturers.
Manage the day to day operation of Project Companies through management of in house Technical Contract Managers, and a pro-active approach to closing out construction latent defects and management of third party technical and O&M providers. Develop and implement strategies to deal with commercial issues that arise during the operational phases.
Support the renewables divestment programme, with particular regard to vendor due diligence, optimisation of equity cash flows, resolution of operational issues and provision of market intelligence including operational pricing. Provide input into the liaison with Primary Investment team during the bid phase for new projects.

Principal Responsibilities
Leadership and Management

Develop and implement strategies for the development and improvement of MSA services delivery to both projects.

Ensure RE Asset Management works collaboratively with Company’s divisions, individual Project Companies, PMS and RE PI to deliver a high performing unit.

Manage and review Technical Contract Managers performance, ensure they receive appropriate training and development.

Operational Management

  • Ensure all operational management services are delivered to the required standards.
  • Develop and implement plans for the Technical Contract Management team that leads to improvements in delivery, especially in financial performance, or the day to day projects operational management operations.
  • Ensure appropriate handover documentation is obtained in the lead up to project completion.
  • Develop and implement plans for the optimisation of operational performance (generation, and availability) of wind, and solar project investments.
  • Liaise with RE Commercial Construction Manager to ensure mobilisation to commercial operations.
  • Ensure appropriate handover documentation is obtained in the lead up to project completion.



  • Assist Asset Director in production of internal monthly Asset Management reports
  • Ensure all reports for RE Projects Monthly meetings, and Company Project board meetings are issued on time, and to required quality.

Financial Management

  • Ensure there is effective liaison with Company finance manager to ensure each Project Company’s budget remains within agreed limits
  • Provide information and assistance to enable the Project Accounting function to be fulfilled by Company finance management team.

Risk Management

  • Input to updates to the SPV Risk Registers and ensure the RE Technical Management team regularly review project level risk.

Health, Safety and Environment

  • Ensure systems are in place to deliver compliance with all Health and Safety and Environmental legislation and standards
  • Ensure contractors undertake audits in relation to H&SE arrange

Public Relations

  • Liaise with 3rd party PR consultants where appointed or internal Company staff as applicable to the project so as to ensure the Shareholders interests are properly represented in relation to any publicity relating to the projects.
  • Establish good relations with landowners and any relevant stakeholders including, but not limited to, environmental groups, land users, neighbouring residents and businesses.

Candidate Profile

Experience & Knowledge

  • Management – demonstrable record of managing teams to deliver services
  • Asset management – management of a multiple site asset portfolio
  • Operational management of onshore wind and, or solar PV projects
  • Electrical engineering – understanding of the requirements of management and maintenance of HV and LV systems, WTG and solar PV arrays, would be beneficial.

  • Degree educated or equivalent
  • Membership of a relevant professional institution
  • Professional construction related qualification e.g degree qualified in Construction / Civil/ Mechanical Engineering and membership of a relevant Professional Institution (ICE, CIOB, RICS, IETor IMech European Language (Swedish, French or German in particular).
