Our client, an entrepreneurial junior mining company, is seeking a strategic and exceptional Chief Operating Officer.

Based in Vancouver, British Columbia, with regular travel to the mine site development, this valued and critical position will report directly to the dynamic, technically-savvy Chief Executive Officer who will mentor and work closely with the incumbent. Expectations are high, and the duties of the Chief Executive Officer will be assumed eventually as the company further advances its operations into production over the next three to five years.

The ideal candidate for this position will possess 20+ progressive years in mining and leading development of mine properties, preferably with experience in Latin, South and North America. With a Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, and ideally a Masters in Business Administration, he/she will possess sound knowledge of he latest thinking in resource estimation, including Kriging methodologies (particularly MIK), previous experience working in Gold Open Pit operations employing resource estimation approaches and RC grade Control Practices for short-to-medium term production scheduling. With exceptional working knowledge of mine planning and optimization practices and software, he/she will have had previous P&L responsibility and Senior Mine Management experience with a Green Field site that advanced to a producing mine. A strong technical and operations leader with superb business acumen, he/she will have a demonstrated track record of meeting short and long term goals through effective business planning capabilities. The ideal candidate will have proven experience overseeing multiple producing mines, and in construction of Capital Intensive Infrastructure projects in excess of CDN $600M. He/she will bring prior experience in stakeholder and government relations including investor presentations and Quorums and will be fully bilingual in English and Spanish.
