Two basic responses for ‘Where do you see yourself in 5 years?’

The interviewer would like to hear a good answer as to – where do you see yourself 5 years from now?

So, one should state a clear/realistic career vision and should demonstrate that this question has been given thought and time.

For those who want to become experts in their field:

In 5 years, I see myself continuing in ……name industry……. and in ……name organization……, learning new skills to enhance my abilities and benefit the company. I find this …name job position…interesting and motivating which will help me get to accomplish my 5-year plan. I see …. name examples….. challenges ahead of me but I am excited to help me grow as I go through the experiences. Therefore, I am willing to invest my 5 years’ time improving all aspects of the job towards my professional advancement. Basically– I want to be an expert in …name field

For those who have ambitions to rise to the top:

In 5 years, I see myself in a senior position …a team leader? high level executive?…, having more responsibilities, training other employees and managing a team. I am interested in following my career based on ……name company’s…… vision. Being able to learn the company’s organizational culture and investing in my knowledge and experience will be in the company’s and my own interest.
